Blue eyes, Brown eyes

I attended a seminar today called The 'Anatomy of Prejudice'. the speaker was a lady called Jane Elliott who developed the blue eyes, brown eyes exercise in discrimination. I found it equally inspiring and depressing. Still it's nice to think that in Hull we are at least trying to do something, it's a start.

Sounds very interesting. I was on a train today, just looking at people of different ages, different colours, different genders and trying to note my stereotypical reactions to each. Yeah, it is sort of inspiring in that through noticing the biased way we look at people we may be able to redress the bias of our looks. A culture of image...

Blue eyed people are better, right? Just like all left handed people are possessed by the debil.

Yes, something is something. It's a lot more than nothing!

My seminary college mate, Paul Bernunzio, had one blue eye and one brown eye. This explains why I always just felt neutral toward him. He was a great guy, but those eyes just kept me from feeling anything at all about him. He was ignored until he finally left. No one noticed until he didn't show up to receive his degree from the President Rector at graduation, four years after he left. Weird, huh?

The good news is that just about everywhere somebody is trying to do something about prejudice. The bad news is that it isn't a lot of people in any one place.
